Question VGT Information

I am trying to gather as much info on VGT's as possible. I figured I ask you all here in this forum, since the 94.5-97 guys are pretty much anti-VGT. What are you opinions, and could you post some links to helpful websites and such?
Thanks.

All the information you need is in the Tech Folder. My question, you trying to run a VGT on something other than the 6.0L engine?

I am currently reading through the info in the tech folder, but I was looking for more general information as well.
As of now I am just researching...
But, there may be a VGT 7.3 in my drive way some day if I like what I find out.

Everyone in the 94.5-97 forum says that it wouldn't be worth the effort to try and get an adequate control system for a VGT.

It's just a variable gain turbo run with wires....should be no problem Seriously compounds would be easier, plus you need room for the intercooler up front, handy with a hack saw?

Lots of guys run 6.0 IC on the OBS trucks. I know Compounds would be easier, but if I'm gonna do something, I like to go all-in on it. To me compounds would be like half assing it just because I wasn't up to the challenge.

So what are the dimesions, boost capabilities, and flow capabilties of a 6.0 turbo?
Also what kind of lag do you guys experience?
What is the boost threshold rpm on the 6.0?

Aside from all the Tech on the VGT, you would have to create a stand alone controller that would monitor your engine for the input to the VGT. No small feat.

max boost on a 6.0 turbo is 28 psi, you can get more if they stick, but thats bad.
we have a little lag. its like count to 2 after you nail in.

Funny thing here is we have guys dumping there vgts and going to non vgt units.

When you mash the pedal in my truck, you basically have to wait until 2k rpm for the turbo to spool to get any power. I'm getting very irritated with it. My sister-in-law has a Jeep Liberty w/ the CRD and there is no lag on that machine. Its turbo is a VGT.

I would assume with the right set-up you could get some decent boost @ 1500 rpm and not have the extreme exhaust backpressure, etc on the high end if you used a VGT.
