Your "new" transfer case might have a problem with the gear that is on the output shaft of the transfer that drives the speed cable gear. You should be able to pull the driveshaft and then the rear housing and check it out.

Also make sure the pitch of the speedo drive gear matches the handed pitch of the speedo cable gear.
If they are pitched opposite, right handed for left handed "//// \\\\" , they wont mesh, and will eventually destroy both gears.

Hi I live in Rockaway, and I am looking to see if anyone out there could help me with or lend any suggestion to an ongoing problem I have been having with my 2003 ford f450. basically, about one month ago my dash went dark, it came back on and since then the dash lights are dim and the tachometer no longer works, any help would be greatly appreciated

I was told, by an old school ford transmission mechanic, that there are different colored gears that go into different t-cases for different applications. I was trying to find the gear for inside my t-case, because mine was stripped out, and was told to make sure to get the correct color or else it will not work. He said there were 4 or 5 different colors and mine is like a turquoise color. You may have to use your old one if it will work or do like I do, judge your speed according to what the tach says.
