I recently washed down my V10 (with water). And what do ya know!! I ended up with a miss-fire. I pulled all coil boots , inspected, cleaned, lubed and reinstalled. It's better at idle, but under a load at hwy speed it miss-fires bad! Does it sound like a bad COP to those that have experienced the same??? No CEL. 95K miles Ex, new plugs and boots at 85K. Original coils. No more washing the engine for me.
Sounds like a COP with a crack or some other way the water got into it.
You won't get a CEL, have it scanned and you MIGHT have a pending misfire code which will tell you which cylinder is misfiring so you don't go hunting for the bad one.
Or, buy one brand-new COP and put it in #1 cylinder. If that doesn't fix it, move it to #2, and so on and so on. Eventually, it will stop
Sounds good. I purchased all new coils. My miss was slight at idle and under a load and non existent at higher RPM's. My Motorcraft platinum plugs are 15K miles old. Should I replace them due to the possible slight fowling because of the miss?
