Noob here, Looking at 250 SD with 100k miles

Its a2006 Ford F 250 CrewCab Lariat 2WD Power Stroke Diesel, with 100k miles. He said it runs great. Never had a diesel before and not sure what to look for. Should I take it to a mechanic? Thanks

Get a Oasis report.
Does it have any mods?
What was it used for?
Who/what was the maintainance?
Do you have a Ford dealer you like?

And there is a lot on the 6.0 forum, study up and you'll know what to look for.

Be VERY careful here. An out of warranty diesel engine can cost a fortune to repair should anything go wrong with it. The 6.0L can be a reliable engine if properly maintained and cared for, but can be a nightmare if not.

An engine replacement can cost up to $15,000, and many typical repairs will cost over $1,000. A set of injectors costs nearly $2,000 if you can't afford sudden huge repair bills I highly suggest getting a V10 powered truck.

Definitely get the oasis report to see if any warranty work has been done to it as that could lead you to potential future problems

Unless it's a repo, an auction would scare me a little on a 6.0.
It's so valuable when you have some sense of the use and maintainance done.

Nope.

But that generally is more common on trucks that had aftermarket tuners raising the boost levels.

Generally.

Just be careful, there are a lot of vehicles out there now.
