Welcome to FTE. I have one of those. Mine was actually a buy back and had a bunch of work early in life, but it's been a great truck for me since I've had it. Get an Oasis from a dealer and see what warranty work has been done on it. If you're ok with what you see and you like the truck; get it.

Well, the list can be long. Injectors, EGR, and head gaskets to name a few. They aren't all bad, though.

Other than the report you mentioned; is their any warning signs I could "see" by looking/checking the truck over good?

Since mine was a buy back, it has a sticker on the door stating this and that the truck has a 1 year/12,000 mile warranty because of the work performed. There is also a sticker on the radiator fan housing with a modification code. Other than that, look for chalky residue on/around/near the coolant fill cap. That could indicate blown or headgasket or plugged EGR. I don't believe there are a lot of other real obvious signs to look for.

Sorry I'm late!

My daily driver is a 2003 F250 with the 6.0. I bought it back in Feb of 07...it had 34K miles on it then. Now it has 90K on it and I love the truck.

This truck was number 812 off the line...so this one is one of the early ones. I ran the VIN through the OASIS report and found a re-flash and some body part replacement. That was it! So I bought the truck. It's been back to the dealer's shop three times. #1 was for aftermarket paint protectant. #2 was for the deer between the headlights...so that one really doesn't count. #3 was to replace the instrument cluster...the fuel gauge wasn't reading correctly. Thats the extent of required maintenance by the dealer. Since then, I've replace the front rotors...they were warped...but thats pretty much it!

SO, the moral of the story is get the VIN and get an OASIS report done first. If the report comes back with minor powertrain issues then go for it. If there are repeat issues on the powertrain, I'd keep looking.

On the 03's, you either get a good one...or you get a stinker...there doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

Bottom line...don't be afraid of an 03, just do your homework and you'll probably be pretty satisfied!

Good Luck!

Joe
