I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions on where I should hook the power wire going to the fuse on my 2000 7.3. I don't wanna run an eyelet to the battery terminal, because I think that just looks like ***. I was thinking to the hot lead on the starter solenoid, but something inside is telling me that'd be a bad idea.
When i did this on my mustang, the power distribution box had a stud coming out of it that was always hot, so I just hooked it to that. My Powerstroke doesn't seem to have that same post (That I can find anyway). Any help and/or ideas are much appreciated. Itchin' to get this all hooked up!
Look at the drivers side fender liner (horizontal plastic fender part) follow the battery wire and you should see a stud there.
Now for a point of discussion, I went to Installer's institute and while I was there I talked to the instructors about the same location. They recommended against using it, saying now you're trying to draw current from the battery for the amp (which can use a lot) though a hose just big enough to feed the truck electronics. There was potential for a voltage drop.
