My '71 Camper Special came with the Tool Storage option on the PS of the bed (Option #15 in Pic Below). I've been looking high and low for a new handle and lock for the storage door but can't find one. The one it has is broken and I don't have the key for it, does anyone have any suggestions on where to look/find/buy? I have yet to find one at a junk yard, let alone with a key in it. Already searched NPD, LMC, & MAC Trucks Catalogs.
Do you think you could use a little ingenuity to fix the handle, then get a key made? If not, another option may be to get a new latch from one of those places that specialise in utility beds.
I agree with Victor. If you can't find another handle, you'll have to figure out how to fix it somehow. Try to do it in some way that will still allow you to put an original back in when you eventually find one.
Any competent locksmith should be able make up a key or re-key the lock cylinder.
I just got back from one of my local junk yards and the blue oval gods must have heard my prayers. They just got in a '72 F250 Camper Special in great condition loaded with finds. It had a working tool door latch w/o a key, I figure I'll take Victors advice and take it to the lock smith. I was also able to get the factory speakers that mount on the rear cab pillars, both taillights + reflectors, tailgate latch + tailgate hinge, dome light, rear wire harness, ash tray, and fire extinguisher w/mount all for $37.
I looked high and low for one several years a go an no one makes that size anymore, the junk yard is the only hope. Key's are anothe rmatter, it is a basic key and cylinder available at any lock smith

There is no such thing as factory (or dealer installed) speakers that mount in cab pillars.
1968/72: The speakers and their corresponding grilles mount towards the front lower section of the door trim panels and are the same as 1968/70 Mustang/Cougar.
These speakers were only installed with the optional AM/FM monaural radio and/or with the dealer installed accessory 8 track stereo tape player that bolted to the bottom of the dash.
Well I started celebrating too soon. The storage door latch I got from the junkyard is about 1" taller than the one on my '71 and doesn't fit, witch is strange because I'm pretty sure the donor I took it off was a '72. The most noticeable difference was the trim, mine is a '71 Custom Camper Special and the donor was a '72 Sport Custom Camper Special. I'll have to check if the latch parts are interchangeable and make one out of two.
Looks like the pillar speakers were mounted by the previous owner and not factory or dealer. They still look pretty cool and going to mount them anyway after I replace the actual speaker with a better quality ones, nothing against Realistic but some two-way Alpines will sound better.

1967/72 F100/350 Stylesides use the same storage compartment assy and attaching parts.
These parts are not the same as 1973/79 or 1964/66. If the lock assy is different, it came from a 1973/79.
I'd love to find an 8 track player for my 70 Musang! Just for the retro look and hide the digital deck under the dash, I'm going to ask next time I'm at the junkyards.
