So today while going up to our KS ranch I am running about 65 when a freaking doe steps out in the highway. I lay on the horn and she stands there and watches as she meets my ranch hand. I never touched the breaks as I had a trailer with some tower blinds on it. The only thing wrong with the pickup is one of the bumper brackets cracked. Is it safe to weld this back together? Anyway I am now 100% believer in the heavy duty bumper replacement.

I personally wouldnt have any issues welding up a bumper bracket. That is one huge bumper. I love those ranch hand bumpers can take a hit like that with no problem.

Got it welded back up and painted. Stronger than ever now. As far as the pics the only damage done was on the trucks bumper brackets one was cracked in half the other only one side was cracked. Pulled the bumper and welded and grinded it down took about 20min. Put new bolts and nuts with lock washers on and was back down the road.
I thought about removing my Lonestar grille guard. My grille guard has several crossbars and wire mesh and seems to restrict air flow somewhat. But after this "deer talk", I think I'll keep it on. I leave work at night and have already put a few deer down with it. It's well worth the ~$350 I paid for it.
There are tons of them for sale, here's just a few from around me. I prefer the full bumper replacements, but the grill guards work really well too. They're usually a little cheaper out in West Texas. I wouldn't pay more than $450 for a complete bumper replacement(front), there are just too many to choose from not to get a great deal. I got mine for $400 and it literally didn't have a scratch on it.
