with the piston at bdc i have a little more than 4 and i found a set of 2v heads on car part .com iam going to get them on mon .are all cleveland 2v heads the same cc, either way iam buying a set the pistons have a really deep grooves in them they are deffinately different than the stock one i think they may b aluminum melling oil pump as well iam going to pull the cam next and c what i got there i will keep you all posted
they're all supposedly the same at 76cc but take that with a grain of salt, Ford published data from the era was optimistic and today known to be suspect. production variations and subsequent milling could be another cause of chamber volume differences from head to head.
along the bottom edge of the head gasket surface near the exhaust ports there is a crescent shape that is said to be helpful in comparing if a head has been milled more than another, but the only accurate way is to measure the volume by liquid. i've also heard of a way to do it with clay but i'm not up on that method
when you say 'deep grooves' do you mean dishes in the top of the pistons?
you say more than 4" to the bottom, how close to the top do the pistons come, are they zero decked? 'rebuilder' pistons may be down in the hole quite a ways
I had previously 2 different heads in my 400 a 75 and a 73 and they had different ccs advertised, supposedly one with 76ccs and the other one with 74.6 cc, i had them milled by .0030 and when i measured them both were at 75 cc exactly, so its better to cc them to really know...
ok so i am ready to ask the next question, is if i have the full valve job done on my 2v head ,who makes a intake adapter to put a torker 351c intake onto 2v cleveland heads i know i have seen them before and now when i need them i cant find them thanks for the help oh yeah the pistons were badger 30 over not keitrh black 40 over i got back 500 on the motor from the kid ii bought it off of the motor is nice but not 1500 nice
all i can find is holley pn8205 351m-400 intake adapters but i calld summit and jegs and neither one sells them where do i find these adapters or somone who makes something simmilar ii thought tmyer makes them but didnt see them on his site any help
