dana 60 conversion problem

Hello guys I have been lurking in the shadows for sometime and have a emerged with an issue. Quick run down of my truck. 1996 F250 POWERSTROKE 4x4 extended cab, automatic, 300,000 miles on her.

I picked up a rolled standard cab 1997 f350 4x4 with 4:10's for $100.00 and the rear out of my f250 on trade. The f350 has a 6 inch skyjacker kit on it also! So I swapped the rears this weekend and have been buttoning up the little stuff. I have ran into a brick wall with the front drive shaft. I bolted up the f250 shaft to the front rear and the slip joint pulled apart ( to short ) I pulled the front output yoke off the f350 t-case and bolted it to my trucks t-case. Now the f350 is a zf speed and my truck is an automatic. The f350 shaft is way shorter then the 250's shaft. But i bolted the yoke to my t-case now should I use the double cardin off the f350 shaft on my 250 shaft to , give me that extra 2-3 inches so the shaft doesn't come apart? Will this work or do I need a shaft from a f350 with a auto tranny?

By the way great place guy's!

Welcome!,

I think it may work if you use the cardon joint, but i'm not sure. Hopefully this will give you a bump if anything else.

should have the correct shaft, but the double cardon will save you some headache later on with the lift.

I found the problem I think , the donor truck had the lift on it already and the spring shackles were installed on the rear of the springs which moved the axle foward about 2-3 inches. It looks like I need to move them to the front and it would also bring my negitive pinion angle back up to a positive angle!

You need an auto F350 shaft, the E4OD is considerably longer than the ZF.

Ok I have looked through some pictures on this site at lift kits and all of them are set up like mine with the shackles to the rear of the springs. Why is my front axle sitting foward of the center of my wheel well.If I was to put a bigger tire on right now it would rip my fender and bumper off. I could swear if I moved the shackles to the front it would push the axle back to center of the well and fix my drive shaft problem.
