I'm sorry I posted this a while back. I have a 96 f150 4x4 with a 8.8 rear end 5.0 motor. The rear end makes a winding sound while driving and until i let off the gas. I was told by a friend that the yolk nut back off. I check the nut it was lose i retightened the nut but the rear end still is winding. The truck drives fine but the rear end winds louder then my swampers. Any suggestions thanks.
The nut may still be lose.
What did you tighten it with?
It takes a lot of Lbs torque (about 250 lbs) to get it to about 15 inch lbs turning force with rear hubs off.
I'm sorry i did not answer the question my computer quit working and i just got a new one. I Tighten it with a 1/2 inch rachet with a little bar on the end.
