I'll be doing the "tank mod" using the ITP kit and want to replace my buzzing fuel pump while I'm dirty
Questions:
What are stock pump measurements (inlet, outlet)?
Should I install larger fuel line from tank to pump, pump to bowl, or both?
Is this pump just plain overkill?
The 044 pump should be bada$$. I am planning on using one as well. Lots of turbo gas engines use this pump with a lot of success. I would assume it will pump diesel just fine being a g-rotor pump.
The specs look very impressive, I'm curious about whether I should run bigger fuel lines or just reduce it at the pump fittings. I think they are larger than the stock fuel pump.
The 044 has screw on fittings on both ends. If you run your new line fromt he tank to the pump (getting rid of the non airtight push fittings) then you can get the correct fitting go to your fuel line. Id go with the largest inlet fuel line, but after that you can run the 5/16 or the 3/8 whatever the stock line is.
Are you still going to use the stock regulator, fuel bowl, etc...
I am about to pickup the Walbro pump, but I like the pressure output on the Bosch. It's not too much more and should feed the fuel without any problems.
What is the correct fitting that screws onto the pump called that allows the factory fuel line to be connected? I see there are fittings like it on ebay but I'm not sure if they are the correct size.
Would I be better off just replacing the fuel line going to the fuel bowl, or can you cut off the spring clamp and hook the factory line to it? I already plan to replace the fuel line from the tank to the pump...
