i would like to upgrade the ignition on my 89 300 i6 efi. i have seen some talk on here about the duraspark and was wondering if that would work on an efi? if not, what dizzy would you guys recomend? i am also looking at adding an msd box and coil?
The Duraspark won't work with an EFI engine. Your engine has TFI. The TFI is the Ford version of GM's HEI and is more than sufficient for the job. Some even use the 4-pin GM module with a TFI coil as an upgrade to the DS2 system on carbed applications.
At some point I would like to do a 300 EFI motor swap in an early Bronco. What was the first year and models had a 300 EFI motor? My brother had a 87 F-150 but I can remember if it had carb or fuel injected.
1987 was the first year the 300cid/4.9L/4900cc engines came Factory with EFI the Following year 1988 the 351W and 460Cid blg block were equiped with EFI Speed Density to be specific in 1996 they switched to OBD2 and Mass Air Flow EFI
