carb problem

i just got my edelbrock performer rpm intake and my holley 4 barrel installed but it won't run...the only way i can get it to hit and run at all is to floor it like it's flooded...then it'll run for a second but will never rev up and get going like it should...so i watched some vids on youtube for setting mixture on holley's wich i was pretty sure about anyway...turned the idle mixture screws in to snug and then out 1 and a half turns. is this a symptom of a bad vacuum leak or is it something to do with the carb maybe not enough fuel?

it's a holley 4160...list-6619...which is 600 cfm...it's on a 302 with 3 speed.

Sounds like either the floats are too high or there is a piece of debris in one of the needle and seats holding them open and making it flood. Look and see if there is any gas dripping down into the barrels after cranking it over for a little bit. if so, then that is the float that needs attention. Also, make sure you have an inline fuel filter, Holley's hate any type of dirt in the fuel.

got the fuel filter and all...but i was using my stock setup for the fuel line which is on the opposite side of the holley....the stock went to passenger and holley is on driver and i didn't have a good piece of fuel line that i could find last night...so it was leaking a bit...i noticed after i fixed the fuel line that there was bubbles around one of the intake bolts...i torqued them all down right but it didn't seem to seal on atleast this one bolt...it was a pain to get it in since my dizzy was seized in...but i took my front clip back off today and used my engine puller on the dizzy using the trucks weight and got it out... so i'm gonna redo the whole setup. now that i can easily get to it...i figured it was something simple...i can't imagine how much air was sucking in...
