Cold cranks are getting longer
Cold cranks are getting longer
I've put 24000 on this truck since I've got it and it now has 71000. I just replaced the oil cooler and put in a new Garrett powermax turbo and on first start up she fired right off no problems. It's been about a week now and all the sudden it's start to take a little longer to start in the mornings. Since I've gotten the truck it's always had a small white puff of smoke on startup but only does it in the mornings. Once it starts it runs great. I keep on top of all maintance probably more than I should.
I know this question has been beating to death but I'm down to asking the experts on here as I've (I think) checked all the syptoms that could cause this. Could this be my ficm going out? It was starting fine before I did the oil cooler. Thanks for any info guys.

EGR cooler is gone, correct? That leaves injectors or FICM or both. Checking the FICM voltage is fairly easy. Have you considered an HPO leak? It's also been a LITTLE bit cooler in the mornings the past week, at least enough to make my old girl a little cranky, but hasn't affected how fast it's starting. When you say longer to start how much longer? Code scanned it??
