It is also cheaper to certify just one powertrain series.
And, in heavier trucks, it's a lot easier to tear things up with a manual, so maybe warranty claims are lower with AT. (?)
I couldn't find a MT Ranger last year in So Cal....
I would think two things will bring the MT back. Fuel prices for one. Most new AT's will do better than the MT, but most people will continue to believe the MT will do better, even if it won't. AT prices. Depending on how long people keep their cars, an AT replacement would certainly make many look for the 3rd pedal on the next rig if they plan on keeping it past the warranty. Just a theory....
