Running lights staying on

Every since I had this truck the running light have came on as soon as you turn on the key, along with the dash lights. It did have an alarm system in it well sort of, all the wiring was scotch locked though I had pulled them all off. I did notice there is a little rectangle relay under the dash that dont look factory, it has 3 wires going into it, there kinda big gauge. I have not taken any thing apart to see where the wires go to. Anyone got tips on what may be making them stay on?

If it is what you think it is, then the relay is wired to the ignition switch and the relay supplies power to the parking lights. You would need to trace the wires back to see where they go and also use a test light or multimeter to see whats what. Do you have a picture of this relay and wiring?

Th e relay wasnt doing anything, just one wire spliced into the starting wire. I undone it and wouldnt start so I connected the wires together and it started, just did away with this relay. All lights work but the running lights are still coming on when the key is turned.

You could tell it was spliced in because the wire going is was red with a tracer color and the other end was the exact same color..

You can see the tan wire I put in place to make sure it worked.

I think maybe they just wired in a relay there, maybe I should put it back in place?

I bet that relay was part of an alarm system for starter interrupt. Its hard to tell, is the wire you put the tan wire between the same color on each side?

I would not put the relay back in. I bet they cut it for the alarm. Just properly join that wire back to together and see how its does like that. I would not use crimp connectors either. I would solder it back together or use something like a posilock. Is it long enough to reach back to itself?
