If ignition,
I wouldn't mearly replace all your COP's just because you don't know what the problem is.
That could be pretty expensive if it's not the problem.
Give us some more details on your problem and what you have done to troubleshoot.
Have you pulled any codes from the truck?
no codes, and also no pending codes. I have had my mac tools task master on it many times both driving and at rest trying to get something from the reader but nothing
I had my spark plugs done at about 123 k now at 153k
2006 2wd 5.4 3V
I have done all my filters both air and fuel. check connections and found nothing
now, at the dealer(when I had the plugs done) he did say the recommend changing the coil boots when I did the plugs but since I have already broken three plugs in the head, I didnt want to do it for the extra money
what happens is my truck will start and idle perfectly!
when I am usually heading up hill (or flat land if im towing 3k) and the engine is in a high gear and i give it gas, (bogging the engine down) the engine starts to jolt like a cylinder is missing a beat. feels like im driving over a good crack in the road when it happens. I loose a bit of power also. if I push it enough to down shift it goes right away.................
I know coil packs are usualy a part that it either works or doesnt but I have seen times when coils go bad and still produce a spark enough so the engine runs fine unless under heavy conditions
I would check the boots first for cracks and replace ones that may be bad or even all of them. The boots are only like $5-$6 a piece. For my '01-V10 the back 2 on the passenger side were rusty and had small cracks. If you are going to change the coils I would just buy 1 or 2 and replace the back ones first. If you drive under load and the problem is still there, just put the old coils back on and try to replace 2 others until you find the bad one. Eventually you should find the bad one without having to replace all of them.
I agree with checking the boots. I have had this problem many times on vehicles with plug wires. It ended up being the wire arcing off of something where a hole had been rubbed in it.
