EGR Delete

I'm replacing my oil cooler so like a good 6.0 owner I'm going to replace the EGR cooler. I like the stuff from BulletProof. I was thinking of putting in the Delete Kit with the blocked up pipe from Elite. The delete kit looks exactly like the original. How would a test site know it wasn't working? Can anyone with experience with this stuff comment?

You don't need to post twice, if someone knows the answer they will be along and reply.

The test site depends on the competency of the inspectors and whether or not they plug in to the OBDII port to check for codes. Whatever you decide to do I would leave the EGR valve in place and plugged in.

You can take care of codes with a tuner. The EGR celete at BulletProof looks exactly the same as a standard cooler. The EGR would remain in place but wouldn't do anything. I just can't see how you could tell it's a delete.

It must have been my other personality since I had no idea there was another post.

No problem, it has been taken care of.

And since I am here, I am interested in your question and what answers you may get. You have an '03, and it has less EGR function checking than the later trucks (unless it is from CA). On my truck, if I did what you are considering, I would get a CEL, and that would show up when the smog tester connected to my OBD. Even if I cleared the code, it would just set again. I think the PCM uses the IAT2 sensor, which should show higher intake air temp when the EGR is flowing. So it seems to me that a smog test could check the same thing during the test.

I don't know if the test in any state does that. But even if they don't, the tests evolve all the time and they might start checking it next year. Especially since we are laying out in public forums exactly what we are planning to do.

I'm keeping my EGR system operational, and doing what I can to deal with it.

I have a complete bulletproof kit sitting in my garage as we "speak".

You could do the EGR cooler delete without doing the up pipe at all and never tell it was there since the cooler would easily bolt back to the y-pipe and still be blocked off internally.

I think I may go that route. BulletProof has a functional EGR cooler that would last forever. I'd love to get rid of the up pipe scoop though. The whole system is a waste of time and money. My origional EGR cooler is the round version and is still functional which is surprising so they are right when they say the the round version is a better cooler.

The 03 doesn't have a scoop, so no reason to worry with it.

Now that's interesting. That leans me further to the operational EGR cooler.

I think you'll be very pleased. The quality of my oil cooler kit is top notch as were the service people I talked to with questions about the new pieces included in my kit that weren't yet on their website.

I have awnsered this a few time but Ill do it it again
a few of the ways we can tell if you have it blocked off.....
command egrdc# and watch IAT and IAT2.
we can command egrdc# and listin to the engine. one would need to be deaf not to hear the change.
we can commant egrdc#, vgt# and moniter map while changing the rpm and watching mgp

Not so hard if you have a clue

BUT.....would the "standard" emissions test (or tester) even be able to do that or have the knowledge to know wtf he was doing or listening to?
