spark plug washer

spark plug washer

i bought some autolite spark plugs and the washer comes loose in the box...which way does the washer go onto the spark plug?

why not just look at the old ones?

The washer will probably perform it's function either way, but I think it's intended to go on with the largest diameter against the spark plug.

my old oem plugs are ngk with preinstalled washers...preinstalled washer are different...what i found out was that when i installed it larger diameter towards plug the smaller diameter was too small against the head...when looking at the washer after torquing there would be an indendation ring that would get pinched on one side...i ended up going back to ngks bc the autolite douple platinums i wanted to use were complete junk...i only need six but ordered 16...there were only 4 that i would have installed...all or most of them had the electrode way off to the side, too far forward or back, and incorrect gaps
