Hello,
I'm looking on ebay for a Ford shop manual for my 88 f250 but I am never sure I am getting the correct one.
Is there a general shop manual for my truck? Does anyone know the part number of that manual (Or correct name)
Thanks
Dan
what you will need to get is the bronco, f100-f350 etc book and then the diesel manual. They cover all of the bodywork and drivetrain(minus diesel) in the truck manual and the engine in the diesel manual.
the factory service manual is a 6 part set, but you only need 3 books, A, B, and H.
A covers body, chassis, and electrical.
B covers the engines.
and H covers engine/emissions diagnosis.
A and B are fairly easy to come across, H can be hard to find.
D is body, chassis, electrical for F, FT, B, and C 600 through 8000 series trucks
E is for engine on the large trucks,
and F is for pre-delivery, hoisting, and jacking on cars and trucks.
and 99% of what you will need is going to be in books A and B
haynes manuals are so useless, that the birds will not even poop on them if you try to line the bottom of their cage with one.
and the chilton books aren't much better. they have so many mistakes in them, one will think they were printed in india after they were transcribed by an idiot.

Thats the best laugh I've had in a while!! And pretty much spot on. Get the Ford manuals, I got a couple off ebay and they've been really good. I think what I have is A and B, and I also have one on the ZF tranny, a rear axle guide (more for diagnosis, but some maintenance) and maybe something else.
hard to tell cause there's no pic, but i got the green book for 15 bucks as well. it was buy it now or best offer and i submitted 15 bucks. he took it and i love the book.
I am looking around but can not seem to find them, anyone have any leads on some for sale?
