Ok i've been eyeing this f250 at a local car lot and today i stopped to check on it, even though im not able to buy it, and see what the details are. to my surprise it was a diesel and to just sweeten the truck even more it has an ats turbo system already installed. so even though i can't buy the truck i ask the dealer about it...well the local yuts that was there and he told me the price and that the motor is a 7.9L. now from my understanding ford has used the 6.9, 7.3, 7.3 powerstroke, and now the 6.0 v-8. am i wrong and ford used a 7.9 some where or is this guy trying to force feed me some bad information?
thanks
LR
The dealer is a freakin YUTS. I bet he wants to sell the bridge to go with the truck. It is probably a 7.3 litre engine. Try to find out what year it is. the 6.9 goes up to 87 and from there the 7.3 takes over. They will have either the standard trans or the c-6 automatic. They then came with the E40D automatic or the 5 speed standard.
Look on the drivers door post and there should be a label with the date of manufacture. there are also codes there telling you which trans, rear diffs are in the truck. After you look at that, grab hold of an owners manual and look up the codes.
TADA!! Also the 87 started with the plastic headlights.
Let us know what you find out.
yeah i forgot to tell the year...its an 1991. i figured it was a 7.3 i believe what happened was some read the information wrong because this is a little backwoods car lot with all the information hand written on a notepad. so i believe someones 3 looks like a 9. but thanks for the help.
