I've had my 95 f150 for two years now the Ebrake has never worked. I can't figure out how to adjust it. I step on the pedal I feel resistance but the truck still rolls even when I push the pedal to the floor. Any ideas? I've already replaced the shoes and springs and adjusted them still doesn't work.
All cables look good. Had to gently hammer the drum on with a framing hammer. I'm not real good with drum brakes I can take them apart and put them back together but I was never real sure what correct adjustment is. Someone told me you should get two rotations out of the wheel and someone else told me that the wheel shouldn't rotate at all.
The only adjustment I can find is the adjustment for the shoes. Could that just be out of adjustment? If so how many rotations of the wheel should I get when it's adjusted right?
Use a screwdriver or similar through the slot in the backplate to rotate the starwheel adjuster while turning the wheel by hand. Stop adjusting when a slight drag is felt when turning the wheel rim. Repeat with the other wheel.
If still no parking brake then one or both of the rear cables may be broken internally or a cable may be streched or the auto adjust mechanism at the pedal may be bad.
However the first thing to do is adjust the rear shoes.
