1956 F-100 - Engine Help?

Hi Guys,

I need some advice. What are your thoughts, opinions, pro's/con's of using the engine from my 1992 Lincon Town Car? I'm in the planning phase and since I already have the car I figured I'd do some reserach to see if I can use it as a partial donor. What about other parts? The Lincoln is in good shape other than transmission.

Lincoln Town Car 4dr Sedan Executive - 190-hp, 4.6-liter V-8

Additional data on the 1992 Lincoln Town Car can be found here.

p.s. - This is 1st time I've ever worked on a project like this so I apologize ahead of time for any dumb questions.

If you're handy with electrical stuff, it would be a great drivetrain for you. Go ahead and rebuild the Lincoln trans and install the entre package. Those 4.6 engines are great, and have a lot of potential if you want to up the hp a bit form the indicated stock 190 horse.
Either way, it'll make for a nice driving pickup for you and get excellent gas mileage at the same time.

Your questions arent dumb at all. The 4.6 can work in your 56'. I have seen a few. This 56' here has been done since 03.

Here is a photo of the engine in it, a 92' 4.6 out of a Towncar.

Are you pretty good with wiring or know someone who is? It can be done. The 4.6s have been pretty good engines. EFI is a good thing. Even with your daily driver if you dont understand EFI or have troubles you just take it to the shop. Let me know if I can help. The gentleman that owns this 56 did all the wiring himself.

Thank you Tacson! I don't really know much of anything, actually My step-dad and brother are going to help me through most of this project. I learn fast and take direction well and we also have two solid mechanics and a body/paint guy for things we can't do ourselves.

Do you know if there is any issue with the engine fitting? Does the firewall need to be pushed back?
