Im confused]
I did it a few years ago, set up is still working although I did have to replace the transmission since then.
It's big, real big but it does fit. Aftermarket controller works fine once you dial it in. Be prepared to spend a lot of time test driving with your laptop plugged in.
You can also check the transmission forum as well for more info.
Would I do it again? No, I'd find a ZF 5 speed and go manual. ZF for small blocks/I6 are hard to find. Nothing wrong with the swap I just miss driving stick.
hughes builds a manual valve body and no electronics. I'm in the process of doing this build for my 1970 ford crewcab 4wd with 400 ford. I run a manual valve body in my c-6 and will work. www.hughesperformance.com. Something to consider. Drop a message if curious. kinda like this idea. The ZF is a good idea but had problem with overdrive gear before and I'm partial to auto's for 4wd.
