Insurance adjustors

Is there an adjustor out there that can advise me on how to know when a insurance company is making a fair offer on a personal injury part of a claim?

Total Dr. Bills $6,000 current offer is $3,800 beyond the bill.

Car $14,000

I have lawyers in the family who do insurance defense, so that's what this is based on.

"Pain and suffering" compensation is usually targeted at 3 to 5 times the medical bills. That's what a PI attorney is going to go for, as he needs to pay his medical people and make the office payment and the BMW payment etc, as well as feed the family.

$6000 doctor bills--how bad did you get whacked? You gonna have any lingering issues? Miss work? In a brace or cast? Can't fool around for a while? ("loss of consort" is one of the items mentioned in the lawsuits...)

Sounds like they want to pay you off cheap.

You got no lawyer? What, trying to be "pure" after some a-hole whacks you? Get the yellow pages out.....

Thanks for the info. We are hoping to keep the lawyers out of it. There doesn't seem to be any lasting physical damage.

I understand.

"There doesn't seem to be any lasting physical damage."

SEEM.

That's now. How about later? A PI attorney on a serious injury case will hold it out long enough to make sure all the damages are known and figured in. Takes forever in some cases, but even in a small case, you don't have to have a wild imagination to wonder if maybe someone will have a chronic backache, neck pain, headache etc for a long time after.

Depends on where the injuries are.

Check a couple other sources.

You can search "pain and suffering calculator" and find about a million PI sites that want your personal info along with the accident info so they can solicit you. But you can also find these--not much new info, but gives you a way of looking at it that you can use in your "discussions" with the insurance adjuster.

My wife fell off the back of my truck and seemed to have no lingering effects. Fast forward 15 years later, she had 2 deteriorated discs, which required major back surgery. The doctor told her that sometimes things that happen now can have serious consequences in the future, and they won't manifest themselves until it is too late. Just an FYI.
