You have a heavier truck so 41 means;
Year -80/82
ratio 3.54
weight rating 6250
Manufacturer Dana (Spicer)
Franklin2...
Yes the truck is 8500 to 9000 according to the VIN code...It has a tow package. How can I tell what Dana Axle I have? It is a ten bolt with a fill plug, but I couldn't find any stamp other then the ratio tag 3.54 E1TA BBB 605040-1 (rusty so could have an error). Is this an axle that could be converted to Limited slip?
605040-1 is the Dana bill of materials, which gives us all the information about the axle.
Your rear is a 1981, 3.54 geared Dana 61. Yes you can add a traction aid, but it won't be cheap, the 61 is oddball in the carrier department, the pinion is located differently than a normal 60 so that it could accommodate 3.08 gears
Postmaster thanks...Thats what I was afraid of..this truck is heavy duty but the parts may be hard or impossible to find? The front axle tag is 3.54 E1TA BBB 610146-7... Can anyone give me some info on that axle? I found info on 610146 which is a model 44 Twin Traction Bean but what does the-7 specifiy?
