Recently bought a 96 F-150/4.9 and have a MTL light indicating a P0411 code, (Secondary Air Injection System incorrect Flow detected). After taking it to a mechanic to be told the oxygen sensors were bad and replacing all four of them the light is back on. I took the truck to the Ford dealer and was told at the tune of $80 bucks they would read the codes and additional $80 an hour they would fix it. With OBDII code readers selling a $124 figured why not. Code is still P0411 and not knowing where to look. Could someone point me in the right direction?
First, stop taking it to the dealer to have the codes read. Many parts stores now do it free. Second, it's most likely the little EGR regulator sensor - the kinda rectangular flat one on the back of the EGR valve with a couple of vacuum lines going to it. It faces the R hood hinge, and its connector points that way.
Hard to believe I received an answer so fast…. Thank you. After coming from under the hood I see what is believed to be the EGR valve on the bach of the intake manifold. The Vacuum line is green and goes to a Black cylinder with two wires on it
Black with a pink stripe and the other is Red. Am I looking in the right place? I do appreciate your patients.
DTC P0411 indicates that Secondary Air is not being diverted when requested.
Possible causes:
Vacuum hoses damaged.
AIRB/AIRD valve inoperative.
Air Pump inoperative.
AIRB/AIRD solenoids damaged.
Visually inspect vacuum lines for disconnects in the AIR system.
Visually inspect for proper vacuum line routing. Refer to VECI decal.
Visually inspect Air Pump for broken or loose Air Pump Belt.
