i am new to the SUV scene. what kind of plugs are on the back of the stock CD player for a 98 Explorer? does it have a audio input i could plug the Delphi reciver into? any help would be cool, thanks.
Sorry, but no audio inputs on the back. you would need to buy the FM modulated version and run the XM signal through a normal radio station. Or you could replace your stock deck witha unit that is capable of receiving the XM signal with just an XM receiver. Best price for a new XM receiver can be found at Etronics , and depending on your choice of antenna, eBay is the best place to shop. Watch out when purchasing XM receivers on eBay as many of them are refurbished.
You can also buy the Kenwood Sirius controller. That will plug into you factory deck through the fm antenna. I think its around $79.99 at Crutchfield.com. And if you buy that and an antenna, you get the receiver free along with 30 days of service. I got my stuff from Crutchfield, but I think the promo is the same at any Kenwood authorized dealer. If you ask me Sirius is a little better, alot less commercials is the best thing.
I too have heard people say that there are more commercial free stations with sirrus, but I have never had it to actually compare against XM. There are plenty of comercial free station on both, with sirrus carrying 100 stations for 12.95 per month, and XM carrying 101 stations for 9.95, it is a toss up as far as value is concerned. If you are interestd in Sat. radio, I suggest checking out both XM Radio and Sirius and then make your mind up from there.
But i already have the XM radio and car adapter i was just wondering if the stock head unit had a audio input but i guess not. thanks for your time guys. I guess ill just have to buy the part for the car.
I guess it just depends on you luck the day you buy something. I have only purcahsed one thing from Etronics, but I received it with no hassle. Even with the bad reviews the still maintain a 4+ average on a 5+ scale. Like I said, just depends on your luck.
I received a fosgate amp from them that was one heck of a deal and a great amp but then my brother got a broken pioneer cd player that was around $400. they refused to replace it. I just know that if there is any tiny bit of doubt when it comes to honesty then I suggest going somewhere else to buy. It is not worth losing $400 just because it was $50 cheaper there.
