63 frame swap

I am new to this forum but have done a lot of searching in the last couple weeks. I bought a 1963 F250 that needs some work. I first thought about doing a spindle/rear axle swap to convert it over to 5 bolt hubs for rim availability and disk brakes. I was also looking at putting in a 292 in place of the 223, but the 292 I was looking at has not been run in 20 years. My boss has a rebuilt 1978 351 with a c6 that he wants to get rid of. Well, if I get the engine/transmission I get the whole truck. It is a 1978 F150 4x4. I was thinking that I could use his axles and engine package to create a 4x4 beast. I was also thinking about taking the body off of the 63 frame and mounting it onto the 78 chassis. I know some people are against this, but is there any significant issues that I would need to watch out for?

I am a design engineer and very capable of desiging my own parts if they do not make ones that I will need.

Mark, My 2, If you like the body of the 63, fabbing it to the 78 could be a nice project. It will not be bolt up, but I bet you could pull it off.

I say GO FOR IT!

The truck was my Father-in-law's so it has some sentimental value. I am sure I will have more money into this project then I would if I bought a different one that is in better condition, but what is the fun it that.

I have a 64 and i have looked into this myself and have looked around from what i have read and measured the cab mounts have to move besides the distance between the cab, bed will be a little wider. A lot of guys are against it but that is what i am doing with mine also i'm moving the cab, bed to a 78 4x4 frame. I think the standard cab 92-96 f150 is a little closer to the same wheelbase. Godd luck with the project and any info back on what you find would be great if you don't mind thanks.
