E4OD Hard Shifts?

E4OD Hard Shifts?
1994 f250 460 with the E4OD and 215,000 miles. After driving up hills/mountains or long trips on the highway it will shift VERY hard into reverse and second gear. i've checked the ATF fluid and it looks good. I don't think an external cooler would solve the problem. my guess is the solenoid gets hot and shorts out internally. What do you guys think?? Thanks.
