AC comes on for 10-20min. then shuts off but comes back on in 10-15 min.-accumulator switch is new and freon is fine--any Ideas--2004-F250-diesel--need help 100* here--thanks
Could be a bad condenser fan/relay. if the condenser gets too hot, it will increase high side pressure, which will cause the High pressure switch to open and switch off the ac compressor
check your pressures they might be too high/low or the high/low switches could be bad...is it electric climate control? cause if it is there are alot more sensors that could be buggin
as to the other post an 04 f350 doesnt have a fan relay, right? so maybe the fan clutch is bad but then the truck would be overheating
One thing you can do is if you can get from an A/C shop the cleaning solution that foams up for cleaning your outside units for homes I would spray your condenser down real good with that. Grease from the road easily gets in there and as has been said before if your not able to transfer the heat out of the coil good enough it will cause a spike in pressures which will trip a circuit and kill the compressor.
Another thing you need to do is check the refrigerant level. You might be slightly over charged. I am going from memory here cant get to my paperwork to check it but I belive around 100* ambient air temp your high side pressure should be 300 PSI or lower and your low side should be around 30 PSI with an orfice tube. Long as your low side is at 30 psi and your high side isnt over 300 PSI you should be fine on the refrigerant level. Now I might be wrong on the 300 PSI but I belive that is what the general rule of thumb is for the high side pressure at 100* as a max.
