I'm going to have a local shop install a Sinister EGR delete kit (open to comments on this kit, good or bad). They are going to clean and lube the turbo while its off also. I'm not familiar with exactly where the oil cooler sits. Is it accessible during the delete kit installation? Im wondering if I should ask them to clean the oil cooler and update the screen in the oil cooler if its easily accessible.
The oil cooler can't be cleaned. The passages are too small. If it's plugging up then replace it while you are there or pay the labor twice when it fails.
Cheezit thanks for the link. Although that was more info than my brain can process. It left me more confused. My final plan for my truck was an SCT tuner, either X3 or SF3 with innovative tunes, after reading that thread Im not really sure what model to get. I ordered a muffler delete pipe for it, leaving the cat in place. I also want to do and EGR cooler delete. The shop that will be doing the work said they have done it for many customers. They leave the EGR plugged in and leave it in the valley. Having said that, is there a flaw in my plan? As I said that other thread left me thoroughly confused.
I'm not looking to hot rod my truck just want to make it more drivable and reliable. Plus the muffler delete sounds cool.

You are better off deleting the CAT and keeping the muffler. The CAT is the major cause of turbo lag. I have an X and MBRP makes a CAT delete pipe that works great. Suggest you reconsider.
I used the Sinister EGR delete on my '05 and it's fine. I didn't like the piece of coolant hose they supplied, so I used a piece of my own.
Removing the intake manifold for the EGR cooler delete is not necessary, but it is necessary in order to replace the oil cooler, which I would highly recommend.
While the intake manifold is off, get it flushed professionally. If you take a look inside the manifold, you'll know what I mean.
The EGR valve (at least in my '05) stays in place.

I use an sct sf3. works for me.
I have a hollowed out cat in my truck noticed no change what so ever.
why leave the egr valve on the intake maniold? why not just put it back in the intake and plug it in. It still wont flow egr with no cooler. it keeps it from bouncing around all over and looks more stock.
I also did not like the crap hose the supplied. I just used the oem hose. works just fine.
