i have a 1993 4wd truck with 99 thousands miles on it i bought it for 400 bucks and found that the transmission was shot so i went and bought one used and put it in it, i drove it for about a week and noticed it was slipping in every gear i didnt think much of it becuase there wasnt much slip then the pump went, so i replaced it and now it will only go in reverse and wont move in drive, i jacked it up and put it in drive and the tires spill but if you give it gas it makes a very weird nosie its the first automatic ive ever owned so im completly lost on what to do ive been with out my truck for months because of this problem please reply back with some information thank you.
Not an expert but a number of things spring to mind.
The E4OD takes about 16qts of fluid did you use about that amount of fresh fluid to refill it? Did you replace the torque converter? May have beed a lot of debris in the old one from the trans failure which would then get into the new trans if not replaced.
I would also be inclined to drop the pan and check that the filter has not dropped into the pan.
