Trans Not Going Into Overdrive
I HAVE A 95 PSD, E4OD AFTER I BOUGHT IT I NOTICED THE BUTTON ON THE SHIFTER WAS NOT WORKING ALL THE TIME. I HAD TO HIT IT A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE THE LIGHT CAME ON. NOW WHILE I WAS DRIVEING IT WOULD NOT GO INTO OVERDRIVE AND THE BUTTON DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.

I had the exact same problem on my 2000 PSD that i just bought. I took it to my shop and after running the diagnostics on it and determining that there was nothing wrong with the tranny, they pulled apart the steering console and found that the OD wire had been gradually getting pulled too tight and eventually became disconnected. Something to that affect...cost me an hour and a half of labor.
Don't know if this is what's going on with yours, but it sounds similar.

well it turned out to be the sme thing the wire to the switch in the steering colum broke or got pulled apart.
so it costed me 2 hours of labor. @$80 a hour
but better than new trans
and found out the trans was replaced once before.
