How durable are the cops?

How durable are the cops?

Hear a lot of talk on how the cops can't take the water from rain or mudding or oil from the fill cap will kill them???
I'm new to the world of the ferd coil packs are there ways to waterproof them???

The COPs are as durable as most any other coil of similar design. Liquids or crud that usually causes misfires when it gets into the COP boot somehow. COP boots go between the plug and coil and over the spring that transfers the coils energy to the plug. Over time the boots tend to crack or wear. If you want a better look at the setup pull one of the COPs near the front of your V10 and take a look. All you do is remove one bolt and pull up on the COP. You don't even need to unplug the COP from the harness.

Oic so not as fragile as I was led to believe it's just there being on top of the motor soaking up that heat that makes them crack and drys out the rubber boots.
The ones on My truck are still original from the factory with123000 on them sooo this spring will look into changing them

Just make sure they are the same length as OE's. Some here have said aftermarket boots are sometimes shorter. I used Autolite, perfect fit.
