You can go any number of links dating back as far as 2001 and see how the US market has given up sizable portion of it's North American parts content to foreign parts.
This may very allude as to why the US flagged vehicles are getting more reliable.
I see it as a huge problem - more foreign sourced parts means fewer Americans working here. It also means higher parts costs to repair our vehicles in the future.
Probably just a natural progression however as we abandon more and more of our manufacturing capability in this country. Sad indeed.
it's a problem from the job standpoint , for our economy ,and yes i know they're being built here now , but they are still a foreign car company , and for my pride as an american . no matter whether it's cars or whatever nowadays i can't seem to find anything that is proudly made here , and i will look for it . even the clothes i'm wearing seem to come from abroad . the one thing i will say though is that the american companies aren't building much of anything i even care to own , and they are all freakin' plastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i refuse to pay as much for any car as i did my home , and it's a cheap , ugly plastic P.O.S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they need to start making the cars out of real materials if they wnat the prices they're asking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i like my 95 bird , and yeah it's a plastic turd , but i paid for it what a plastic car is worth , $200 bucks ..................
