1989 Ford F250 7.5 L 4X4 automatic
Last week I took a 50 mile drive in this truck and made a stop a few miles from home, came out of the store to find it would crank but would not start had it towed home and put a code reader on it to find a #96 code on the code reader (Fuel pump secondary circuit falt/high speed fuel pump relay open)so I replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump relay, started right up and ran fine, retested and the code dissapeared, took it for a 17 mile freeway test drive once again stopped near home to top off the fuel tank and while waiting at idle for an available pump engine stalled and would not start again.called the towing company once again, got home and checked for fuel pressure at the fuel rail and very close to nothing there, out of curiosity I tried to start it with starting fluid and it started right up and ran until starting fluid was removed also could hear the fuel pump running when the ignition was turned on.am looking for suggestions on what to look at next, the fuel pressure regulator is the only thing that comes to mind but don't know the symptoms of problems with that, your help is appriciated.
