Starter problems???????

I have a problem with my 78 f-150 4x4 with a 351M, c6. When I turn the key all that happens is a buzzing sound coming from my starter solenoid. At first I thought it was the Walmart battery, and it had died again. But after haveing it tested it was fine. I had the starter test, and the auto parts store replace it with a new one because of warranty. And still all I get is a buzzing sound from the solenoid. The solenoid is 5 months old, the cables connecting to the battery and the starter are 3 months old. All of the connections are tight and corrosion free. What am I over looking is there another problem that could be causing this?

Please Help!!!!!!!!
Learning as I go, all help is greatly appreciated
Thanks Vince

Starter problems???????

Could it be a faulty solenoid even though it's new, maybe not latching in properly? How about under voltage in the lead from the ignition switch to the solenoid, could that do it?
I hate electrical problems, never could get my head around it.
Just a couple thoughts,
Good luck,

I would say it is your strater solenoid. I had one i took out of the box and it would not even click pull out an old one i took out of a parts truck and my truck fired right up. I suggest swapping out the solenoid and see what happens.

i know you said your connections were tight but are you sure your solenoid is actually getting a good ground?

Starter problems???????

Use a voltmeter and see if you get any voltage on the starter side of the solenoid. That'll tell you a lot information. If you have a good meter you can check for voltage drops between connections.
Good luck

Unless your solenoid took a dump already (unlikely) it sounds like a bad engine to body/frame ground. Check that out. If it already has one, try putting on a bigger gauge or adding another.
