I have a Tekonsha brake controller that I am having problems with. When I press the brake the light on the controller will not light up. So I went through all of the wiring and it all checks out good. I checked my voltage, ground, and brake light switch output. But I did find that if I ground the brake controller output it will light up and appear to be acting right. What do you guys think. Thanks
Run a ground wire directly to the battery's - post and see if that fixes it. BTW, taillights will work no matter how bad the brake light switch is messed up.
Well I found the problem, the trailer had the battery power and the brake controller output switched in the trailer plug. After looking at everything else that's all it was, I can only wonder how long that trailer had been like that. This is the first time I noticed but I rarely pull it with a smaller truck . But its a 25k GVWR trailer so I think it really needs the trailer brakes with any truck smaller than a 2 1/2 ton pulling it or you can really tell its pushing on you when you are trying to slow down.
