Coolant Flush... Should I wait?

So Im getting ready to do a coolant flush with VC-9 and switch to ELC coolant (Fleetrite), I am also doing an oil and filter change.

I do not have a coolant filter yet and I just cant afford the extra $160 on it now after buying all the coolant, syn oil, filters, VC-9, etc. It will be a couple weeks before I can, I will probably only put a few hundred miles on it in that time frame.

Thing is, I have a nice long 4 day weekend to do this... Should ZI wait until I get the filter? Is it really a messy procedure to install it? Will I loose a lot of coolant?

I was also wondering if I should do the fuel pressure spring thing I have read about here while im in there?

To answer some likely response questions.. My truck only has 34k miles on it, it starts, runs, and idles fine. I just installed guages yesterday and my EOT and ECT (in the limited time I drove it since) has been within (average) 6*-9* but for one instance it got up to 14* for a minute coming off the freeway. I have not done any long hour+ trips yet but I plan to this weekend.

Sorry for the long winded post.....

thats how i did it when i had the thermistat out for the coolant flush I installed the fuel pressure spring or at least i found it easier to put the spring in while the upper radiator hose was off. As for the coolant filter i did my flush first to remove as much of the xcasting sand rust and other contaminates first so i had a good clean filter with the new coolant. As far as loseing coolant upon install of the coolant filter im going to cross that bridge tomorrow if i have to i will clamp the hose with some vice grips or something I know when i did injectors that heater supply line kept trying to bleed off. might have to drain the degass bottle down a little.

FYI i peiced my filter kit together and made my own braket and im into it 107.00 and i still need about 10feet of hose to be compleate at 1.29ft at checker auto so all in all about 120.00 to peice the coolant filter together myself. I do like the looks filter base better with the kit though whatever i saved a little i guess.
