I have a '67 F100 with a transplanted 302. It's in pretty good shape, at least for my tastes, it really just needs body work and paint which I am working on right now. I bought this truck in hopes of turning it into a daily driver. The appearance of it is important to me, but not as important as its reliability and performance. I've been trying to figure out how to finish the build and setup the truck to work the best for me. I'd really like to find any information on how to update it, like the brakes, suspension, steering, mechanical, electrical, everything really. What kind of things can I do to make it drive more like a vehicle today using new parts while still keeping the engine and trans the same? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I drive mine completely original and love it. If I HAD to make a change, I would consider a front disk brake conversion (search the forum.. its well explained in here somewhere). But i just go a little slower and allow more stopping room. And i rebuilt the front drum brakes (including rubber lines) and adjusted carefully to stop any side pulling effect.
Otherwise, its a fine ride. Gas mileage is OK under 50 mph (in town), but it really misses an overdrive gear in the auto xmsn at highway speeds and gets thirsty (10-11 mpg). Your 302 might do better. A bolt-on OD unit is available for appx $2500.
