Guys I am in the market for another 00-03 7.3 PSD.. Looking for a decent deal on one that has reasonable miles and doesn't have to be a cream puff. I have found this one here Ford : F-250: eBay Motors (item 230519323624 end time Sep-07-10 19:02:02 PDT) but would like some of your thoughts on it.. I talked to the seller and he seems like a nice guy. Its a 1 owner truck, and has some of the mods that I would do to the truck any way. It does need the hood and roof repainted because they have faded, but other than that everything seems good...
It looks like a nice truck for sure. For some reason I "think" he may be a member here but am not 100% sure. The only thing that I am hesitant is would be the ATS transmission, I have read some horror stories about them, either you get a good one or not and some of the customer service stoires make me cringe. But......if it was a stock transmission it would be the same thing either a good one or a bad one. It looks to be a sweet truck at a decent price too.
It sounds decent from what he wrote in the ad, but of course, it needs to be checked over in person. The coolant looks a little low, and with it being the green stuff, first thing I'd check is the SCA levels. I'm curious also how a tranny in FL never saw over 160*; when it's 90* here my tranny will hit 140-150 just running empty. Now, I know it gets that hot in FL. Either 1) he has the greatest tranny cooler known to mankind, 2) he never towed his boat in the summer months, only winter, or 3) he's BS'ing just a bit on that one. OK, maybe his tranny temp gauge is out of whack.
I can't help you on value because I've never been looking for a 2WD truck. Still, 10,200 seems on high end even with the ATS tranny.
Brendan... I am glad you pointed that out to me.. I didn't even think it wasn't 4wd.. i automatically though "it's lifted so 4wd." I guess the stress of looking for a truck is getting to me!! If it was 4wd I probably woulda bought it.. not now tho.

If it's got 85k miles on the trans, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that it's a good one.
