Explorer 03 change housing thermo.????

Explorer 03 change housing thermo.????
I just got this coolant leak on the thermo housing on a 4.0 V6 explorer.
Look a easy swap so, I replaced. New thermostat gasket, O-ring for the bottom
of the housing. Add coolant and turn the car. Wait for about 15 minutes no sign of leak, but then I notice that start over heat. so I turn of the car and i notice some coolant come between back of motor and firewall. Do I do something wrong? or it is something mayor?
