Well I guess no one is a fan of this swap. Regearing is definately an easier option. Cost really isn't an issue as my family owns a salvage yard, so I have access to parts. Maybe I should look into a Cummins swap instead.
I was wondering if anyone has done this swap or knows where I can find some info on it?
If you have a complete donor vehicle, it'll be pretty easy. It's not a direct swap, and there are many parts that MUST be transferred over from a Lightning to the SD, some requiring a bit fabrication skill for fitament. You'll also need a custom tune on your SD PCM-the Lightning PCM won't work with the remainder of the chassis electronics, etc.

I think the torque would be at too high of rpms in the lightning for that to work.
Negative. The later model 5.4l in the lightning produce 380hp @ 4,750rpm and 450tq @ 3250rpm. Peak torque is produced at the same rpm as both 2V and 3V V10s.
Since you can get the parts I say go for it, will be a fun truck.
Cummins swap would be better, IMO.. great engine, and a great frame and running gear. I've heard it before from FTE. Cummins swap is the best swap for a ford truck. That doesn't mean i'm ready to give up my 7.3 though. 7.3, still better.
