Got a question for the experts... I am fixin to sell my Dodge,,yes before you fella's start asking me what the blank are you doing with a dudge here me out..It's a pretty good ole truck for a morparts,its got a .040 318, hedders,4x4,nice wheels and tires,but its not a Ford if you know what I mean.. I thought I had a good deal on it at the time but a month later a engine knock came along so its been my money pit....Noe that it's rumming right I want to sell it,,,,go figure,,but yes it's still a morparts..I was trying to start a hotshot co...but decided to wait till I move in the country so the PSD I was wanting will have to wait..Now I want to get myself a 94-97 F150 or 250 which ever I come across at a good price once the morparts sells hopefully..Is there a certain yr or certain engine I should look for when buying?? I could shoot myself because a few yrs back I owned a 95 beauthiful ext cab...I hate that I sold that one also but you know how that goes, needed more room for kids and such so we got a Taurus so on and so forth but this will be mine and not the lil ladies like the truck 95 was..Thats a good yr I guess because no trouble with the last one...5.0 overdrive.. It's hard to find one with a 5.8 that's what I would like....Any pointers from you fella's would be great..Wish me luck on selling the moreparts..These last couple of yrs have been the first in 20 or so that I haven't had a blue oval in the family and it's KILLIN ME...Later
is going to be a good truck. One note though, the early E4OD's had some probs, but you if find one that has been overhauled, more than likely the mods have been put in it. The M5OD R2 trannys are adequate for most but not extreme
applications. As far as engines, take your pick, the engine options for those years are all good. The 300/six is a workhorse and tends to last forever with normal maintenance. The 302/5.0 has more HP but wont lug a load like a 300/six. If you want both find a 351W. F150 vs F250 depends on what your application is. Also SuperCab vs standard again depends on application. I have both and wouldnt trade either. Hope this helps
I like my 95 F150 as well, though it is sorta plain. However, the 95 has OBD I emissions (that's EEC-IV in Fordspeak) so the service engine light can still be diagnosed with only a paperclip in the diagnostic port. It has first year for driver's airbags in the trucks (well maybe 94, I'm not sure), R134 AC, and it has the stainless steel factory exhaust. The I-beam suspension is a more durable system than I'll ever wear out. I wish I could go buy a brand new 95, but this one has the 300, so I guess it'll be around for awhile. This bodystyle has been around so long than most replacement parts are cheap. If you don't mind the older bodystyle, I'd recommend the 95-94. F-150. If you have the money to spend, there are still some good f series out there with the 5.8 (around 80-100k miles) it is a buyers market - hold out for what you want.....
good luck

HELP
That's a heck of a good price for a truck with only 70k original miles. I've seen ones with 170k selling for $5-6k w/ mediocre shape.
The 94+ trucks apparently have a higher resale value than 92/93 trucks do.
Personally if I were looking for one, I'd chose a 94+. The quality is better than the earlier ones, IMO. I've owned my '93 since new, and it's been an excellent truck, I've probably spent $500 on misc stuff since new, majorly tiny stuff and fixing my own screw-ups.
A lot of people debate what engine is best, but the fact is, all of them are probably the best FORD engines produced, even today. I venture to say that MANY of them, unless they are wrecked or whatever physically disabled, are going strong and will for some time!
whats IMO

IMO=In My Opinion
No real problems, more or less annoyances. Rust and brakes can be problems, but since your truck has fairly low miles, you shouldn't have any serious problems for a LONG time.
The 5.8L 351, E4OD with 3.55 gears should get you a high rating of around 16-17mpg, but that's with it completely healthy and at a good highway speed.
It is EFI and it also has a throttle body. It is actually multi-port fuel injection with a speed-density computer.
