What is leading you to believe you need a new turbo? A rebuild kit can be purchased around $100 IIRC, http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/mm5/me...Category_Code= and although I have not personally done it, I believe that it is relatively simple and could easily be performed, especially with the knowledge from this group of individuals that is referred to as the "brotherhood"
Where the turbo comes together has a chunk missing out of the housing.
The compressor wheel is all chewed up and no telling what the turbine wheel looks like.
I bought the truck from the company I work for. I got it for a steal $1900.00, It is a 1999 f250 2wd 220,000 miles. The company just got the clutch replaced and new tires put on it.
How did I get it for this price? Book keeping error she though it was the gasoline truck and not the diesel. Got the truck in the garage as a project any ideas would be helpful. Plan on making it a bad *** sleeper.
Pic on the way on the progress.
Thanks for the help and advice.
Missing chunks is bad. Wonder where the projectile came from? Piston pieces?
Have you checked around to see if anyone is selling a used turbo? Then you can just buy the RiffRaff kit and re-build it yourself. If you are in Southern Arizona, I know a guy who is parting out his 2002 and he had the turbo last time I checked.
