hi,
i have a 99 expedition with 5.4,110,000 mi.
i just changed the thermostat in it now it has a rought idle and a miss and the check engine light came on ,and idea why this would happen ? used oem equipment ????
Probable cause: coolant ran into one or more of the plugwells when you were changing the ts. Coolant is now causing shorts to occur. Blow out the plugwells and allow everything to dry.
Antifreeze doesn't really dry very well. I suggest first flushing out the plug wells with water to clean out the AF, then blow out the water. Once you run the engine for a bit the heat will dry up the water in no time flat.
If that doesn't solve it, you're going to have to start replacing the rubber boots on the COPs.
thanks ...hard to believe something so simple can make such a issue ,will let you know if it dries out in a day or so ,i already washed off the entire engine ..we'll see
