Leveling Kit

I'm new to the forum and I have to say this is the best most informative Ford Truck forum I've found. Keep up the good work!

I looked at all the threads on leveling kits but realy haven't found the answers to my questions.

I have a 2000 F350 4wd extended cab long bed diesel . I purchased it used about a year ago and love it. Only one gripe, since day one I haven't liked how the truck is higher in the back and doesn't sit level. I don't know if it is spring sag or not. It seems others I've seen are like mine.

I'm considering buying a leveling kit. I use it mainly as a daily driver and I also tow a gooseneck horse trailer with it so I'm not interested in getting oversized tires or making a super off roader, I just want it to sit level and maybe put slightly bigger tires on the stock alum. wheels in the future.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me decide on the right kit. I'm mostly concearned about changing the factory ride, (I'd rather not do that if I can help it). Also I know that it is cucial to get the highest quality as the diesel is very heavy.

Is a leveling kit something I can install my self? I installed a supension lift on my 1/2 to 78' chevy 4x4 a couple years ago. Is it any harder than that? Other than the obvious weight difference?

Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

For the best ride, I would go with a hanger system to level. You replace the spring hangers and shackles on the front axle to give you some lift. Install isn't hard at all and directions are well written.

There are 2 very good kits.

1-The EDGE 3" system. Includes hangers, boxed shackles and custom valved bilstein 5100 series shocks. IMO best riding leveling kit on the market and super strong.

2- Fabtech 3.5" Includes hangers, bracket to relocate stock shackles, and fabtech shocks.

Can't go wrong with either one.

I agree with DCSpecial. I have the Fabtech hangers on mine. Sounds to me that if you don't like the raked look, just do the hangers and leave the rear alone.

I wouldn't go with the add-a-leaf setup like some companies sell. It will make your front end to stiff in my opinion. Unless you drive around with a snow plow hanging from the front year round, do like everyone else said go with a hanger kit then your factory ride won't be affected.

I agree with Hobert. Do not go with the inexpensive add a leaf or progressive spring pack to lift the front. The difference in ride is night and day. I just posted about this very problem "wrong lift" I would show a link to it if I had the know how. Good luck with your lift.

Thanks for all the help. Does Edge have an online retailer? (other than the manufacture's own web site)

Yep,

Fox-Performance

and

ORW

Are online distributors, the other distributors that I have dealt with have to be called.

Hope this helps.
