Hi,
I just got a new set of 275/70/R18E duratracs and now have a vibration at highway speed. The drivers front tire has 4 large weights on it the others have 1 to 2 weights. That seems like a lot of weight, is that normal for these tires? Do I have a bad tire? Any ideas? thanks for any info!!
Are the 4 weights all together? Sounds like a bad tire to me. The tire tech shouldn't have had to use that many weights. Either the tire is bad or the rim is bent.
thomabb--thanks for the reply
Yes the weights are all together. The rim is good, I had no vibration problems with the OEM tires. Any idea on how to get Discount tire to say the tire is bad?
I had this problem when my wife had an Expedition. I kept complaining and taking it back and insisting they make it right. They eventually replaced the tire. It's not easy getting them to admit a mistake. Do the tires have a warranty? That may make it easier for you.
A quick update:
Thanks for the help!
Got a new tire, the vibration is now gone. I just got back from camping and 4x4ing.
Great traction, love the tires.
To be honest, biggest mistake was putting the Duratracs on my F250. They abslutely suck. Even the E rated correct pressure all the way around the sidewalls flex like crazy. They feel like balloons.
